No More Facebook!
It’s now become official, no more facebook in my office! Many have complained about their co-workers been busy updating their status on facebook instead of doing their jobs. Others suspected that the internet connection became slow lately due to many employees opening facebook.
Last week the IT department issued a report to the management about internet stats per user in our office. The result, of course, the most accessed page was facebook! Almost all users opened and updated their facebook status everyday (if not every minutes, including those who all this time complained about their neighbors, lol). The management then decided to block access to facebook starting Monday (yesterday) in order to keep employees focus on their job.
Anyway, I’m not a really fan of facebook, I don’t open my facebook everyday, so I wasn’t included in “facebook addicts” category in the report. They put me in “active browsers” category. I guess that’s how they interpreted my dropping ec habit. Yes, sometimes I drop ec in my office if I couldn’t finish it at home the night before.
Statistics said Indonesia was ranked 5th among countries with highest number of Facebook users, almost 15 million users! I wonder how many percent of those users using their office computer

Usually, you can always use proxy or VPN to bypass website blockage, unless your IT department is using some kind of strong blocking system.
We were told not to use office internet for personal use too, but since they didn’t ban them, sometimes we use it anyway (oops).
So far they only block Facebook and YM.

Ah it happens at your office too, lol.
Facebook was quite a phenomenon at my office, almost all employees use it, so I can understand if they want to ban it.
I heard that too, never try it though. Maybe when they start to block more sites I’ll try to use proxy
So far they only block Facebook and YM which I hardly use, so I’m still happy.

My sister’s company blocks Facebook, YouTube and a host of other social sites. They even block large images sent as attachments. They’re pretty hardcore there. I work at a university and we’re pretty open, but I try not to access those sites during work time (though the temptation is there!)

i’m the IT officer in my company. i has block facebook since last year and my boss ask me why i’m block facebook? i tell him that he not doing his job and wasting his time on clicking on the “ignore” button.
I simply don’t understand the need for people to update their statuses during work hours anyway. Are they going to die if they don’t post an update?!

I wish people would just do things responsibly. Once or twice a day isn’t bad, but complaining about it then having to have management look into it is ridiculous. Especially if the complainers want to use it as well.
I think that is hilarious! Facebook is sooo addictive! If I were running an office, I’d block it out, too! And Twitter as well! People spend far too much time on these things! Not on my payroll!
